Continuous Underground Mining – Mechanical Cutting Demonstration To evaluate the existing technology, continue learning more around mechanical cutting and continuous mining in order to transform the current drill and blast methodology, to a continuous mining platform.  Read more +
Continuous Underground Mining – Discovery This project is focussed on understanding and evaluating  peripheral elements associated with hard rock mechanical cutting technologies such as mine design, ground support, material movement, maintenance and more.
Continuous Surface Mining – Alternative Haulage Technical Study Material haulage is one of the highest costs in many surface mining operations. The purpose of this phase of the project is to identify technologies and processes that may provide an alternative to the existing platform of material haulage by trucks.   Read more +
Haul Truck Analytics  Mining companies have been performing preventative maintenance (PM) on large scale equipment fleet based on calendar time.  This proof of concept project  is to determine if there are indicators in the oil analysis data to validate the robustness of the current PM program and to explore ways to optimize the program to maximize the equipment’s productive capacity.

Global Water Curves This project will define metrics and produce Global Water Curves tools that can be used to benchmark and evaluate water usage in mineral process equipment particularly those related to grinding. Data Mining for Knowledge Demonstrate where data mining techniques  can be effectively used in Mining Operations (Mine, Mill and Smelter) to improve operational performance and where significant gaps exist that make their implementation ineffective.

Project Title   Summary
Mining Knowledge Hub The Knowledge Hub project involves the collection, preservation, and distribution of water quality data collected by mining companies. The pilot phase of the project developed an interface to access water quality data collected by companies developing and operating mines in British Columbia.  Approximately 20 million data points are loaded into the prototype. Read more…
